Patrice
has come to writing and directing by way of acting and aerospace
engineering via Cornell University where she started her undergraduate
career as an aerospace engineering major then switched to acting. About
five years ago she felt compelled to tell the story of her two brothers on
Wall Street in the screenplay THIRTY FOUR WALL’. It was then that she
discovered a passion for writing that equaled her passion for acting.
Patrice’s career as an actor has challenged her availability to go to
film school so while on the CRUCIBLE she decided to pursue a mentor and
create an environment in which she could learn these skills. The result
was ‘KINGS COUNTY’. Patrice
was born in Jamaica but raised in and near a number of inner city
communities in New York and Brooklyn. She has sixteen brothers and sisters
that she can count and they have all gone to college. She attributes that
to her parents who had a vision. She did this film for the children of the
inner city who don’t know how to stop repeating the cycle of their
parents and grandparents. May they hold on to their dream and find the
‘yellow brick road’. Patrice is currently working to produce ‘THIRTY FOUR WALL’ and will shoot her next feature LAUNDROMAT this summer. |
